A Coastal Home Built to Endure
Designed as a permanent residence, this custom home has been carefully tailored to respond to both the site’s natural topography and the surrounding coastal landscape. Positioned on a sloping allotment, the design works with the land rather than against it, minimising excavation requirements while creating an elevated living environment that captures outlook, natural light and breezes.
The home is supported on a pier system that follows the existing contours, allowing the structure to sit comfortably within the site and reducing disturbance to the surrounding terrain.
Located within a BAL-29 bushfire-prone area, the project required a range of specialised construction measures to satisfy bushfire compliance requirements. Careful consideration was given to external cladding selections, glazing specifications, screening systems and overall material durability to ensure the home met stringent BAL-29 standards while maintaining its clean architectural aesthetic.
The result is a contemporary coastal design that combines practical bushfire resilience with warm, natural materials and a simple gabled form. Large glazed openings connect the interior living spaces to the outdoors, while the expansive deck provides an elevated vantage point across the site and surrounding landscape.
